Governorship aspirant visits APC secretariat, pledges to restore Cross River via 13 thematic areas

In what appeared as a carnival on Wednesday, the campaign team of Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, a governorship aspirant for the 2023 general elections under the APC platform, Fusion 196 recorded a huge turnout prompting the state chairman of the party, Alphonsus Eba to resort to asking the aspirant to go home as action has attested to his popularity and acceptance.

The crowd that accompanied the aspirant to the Party Secretariat defied the heavy downpour and forced diversion of traffic by law enforcement officers from Murtal Mohammed Highway to adjoining roads due to gridlock.

And commenting while fielding questions from newsmen the Cross River State APC chairman Barrister Alphonsus Eba said he will be unhappy and disappointed if the party denies Senator (Prince) Otu the ticket admitting that from what he heard and seen about his grass-roots popularity across the 196 council wards and 18 Local Government Areas of the state, he is the only man to match PDP edge-to-edge and expressed the joy of finding a man who is of the old APC stock and not people who want to take undue advantage of the political terrain.

Speaking with journalists after pledging N10 million, he said the state has lost everything including 76 oil wells in the Bakassi Penisula among others, and promised to take Cross River State to the next level and restore her lost glory of peace, progress, prosperity, and maximum security if given the party ticket to contest the 2023 governorship polls.

He used the occasion to debunk insinuations that he is broke and may not withstand other aspirants with deep pockets, saying on the contrary that he is not a poor man and that power belongs to God. He harped on his 13 thematic areas of focus.

He further averred that he will match any aspirant in the field having served as chairman of the Senate committee on banking, and petroleum, and asked why he would not know where to get money for his election.

Director-General of FUSION 196 Mr. Emmanuel Ironbar expressed gratitude to God for the success of the event in a chat with the LENS reporter.
