Group collaborate NDDC to train 1000 Niger Delta youth, provide N1m starter packs
Arrangement is in top gear by Mathesis Events, in collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, to equip about 1000 youths residing in the Niger Delta region with technical knowledge that would enable them exploit the digital space after attending the June 25 Niger Delta digital Summit at EUI Centre, port Harcourt.
Spokesperson for the organization Preston Audu, made this known in a telephone conversation with our Correspondent Saturday in Calabar.
The Spokesperson maintained that the initiative will put youths off cybercrimes and provide them with requisite knowledge that will help them make genuine exploit in the digital domain.
Audu states that knowledge that will be acquired from the June 25, digital summit will provide re-orientation for youths in the region and insulate them from cyber fraud while at the same time, keeping them focus on creating wealth via digital economy.
Audu who spoke on the Theme; Beyond Oil, shaping a Digital Future for The Niger Delta, averred that the era where residents of the region think that money can only be made from oil is over stressing that there are abundant resources that are yet to be tapped in the digital space.
He stressed that with the right tools and knowledge a lot can be achieved from the digital space without one resorting to involved one self in cyber criminality.
He said that youths who make themselves available at the summit shall have opportunity to turnaround their fortune in a very short time, calling on youths in the region to see the summit as an opportunity to better themselves.
“This summit is not just about infrastructure and innovation; it’s about a mindset revolution. It’s about replacing fraud with foresight, and scams with skills. It is time to show our youth that the internet holds more than shortcuts. It holds careers, creativity, and credibility.1000
“The summit organized by Mathesis Events, supported by the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, will give starter packs of N1m to some youths to enable them start up their ICT enterprises.
“We are going to let participants to know that the region can still sustain its self without oil.
Audu enumerated other issues that will be treated at the summit to include, conversation around digital transformation in the region, highlight investment and infrastructure opportunities in broadband, fintech, creatives aggrotech, and clean energy, equip youth with exposure to digital careers, remote work, and entrepreneurship
