Hospitality group in Cross River wants inclusion in N1m proposed largesse to hotels

The recent largesse of One million naira each promised ten hotels in Cross River State has been hailed by the Association of Bar and Restaurant Owners in the state.

The groups disposition was made known by its Chairman, Mr. Felix Dien in an exclusive interview with a LENS Reporter in Calabar on Thursday October 5, 2023. He as well pleaded for the same gesture to be extended to the members of the hospitality value chain in the three senatorial districts in the state, being the highest employer of labour in the country.

He used the opportunity to congratulate the Hon. Commissioner for Tourism, Mr. Abubakar Ewah on his appointment and pledged the association’s support for the success of the 2023 Carnival Calabar festival which is another bold step by the Bassey Otu administration to reposition Cross River as the Nations Tourism Destination, with 2023 theme, “Season of Sweetness.”

Recall that the State Carnival Commission is to kick-off the 2023 Carnival in Calabar, Ikom and Ogoja senatorial districts with fire-works on November 30, 2023. The event scheduled to span till December 31st 2023 would attract tourists all over the world and is expected to boost the economy of the state.

Aside the proposed N1m grant to some hotels in the state to facilitate upping their facilities and services, the ongoing refuse evacuation exercise by the Cross River government is additional effort to ensure clean and green environment for the festival taunted as Africa’s biggest street party in December 2023 Carnival Calabar.
