Ikot Uduak residents felicitate Onwe, Eyo on their public appointments

Congratulatory messages is pouring in from residents of Ikot Uduak erosion site for Mr. Henry Onwe, project coordinator of Cross River State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) and Prof. Emmanuel Eyo, Project coordinator of Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) who were appointed recently by the Executive Governor of Cross River state, Senator Prince Bassey Otu.

Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday September 27, 2023 on behalf of the village Head of Ikot Uduak Community, HH Deaconess E. Asibong, a community leader in the erosion site vicinity, Prince Henry Bassey Kusi (Sababs) felicitated the duo on their appointments which he said is well deserved given their record of service and appealed for a speedy completion of the uncompleted remediation work at the erosion control site to alleviate suffering of residents.

Also contributing, a resident of the area and a civil engineer, Edet Udoh, chief executive officer and managing director of Gapatect Nig. Ltd., called for a rejig of the abandoned erosion control work through collaboration with professionals to find a lasting solution to the ecological problem.

Udoh suggest for the construction of a link road through Ikot Uduak to old parliamentary village road with provision of a bailey bridge to decongest traffic gridlock at Efio-ette round-about to ease commuters traffic accessing mcc road to the city center in Calabar through Assemblies of God church road in Ikot Uduak Community.

It would be recalled that residents of Ikot Uduak erosion site have complained about their suffering due to the haphazard execution of the project by the former contractor hired by the World Bank to remedy the ecological menace in the community. But hitherto, succor is yet to be felt by residents who has appealed to Governor Bassey Otu to use his good offices to compel the relevant government agencies to do the needful to mitigate the suffering of residents.
