Ishie clan council alerts public of online fraudstars seeking fund for burial of late official

The Ishie Clan Traditional Council in Calabar Municipal Local Government Area of Cross River State has raised alarm over the fraudulent activities of some social media miscreants to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public for the burial of the late Assistant Secretary.

The public rebuttal according to the Secretary, Barrister Ededet Eyoma is sequel to the barrage of requests from the public to ascertain the authenticity of the online publication.

In a statement warning those perpetrating the act, he posted, “We wish to inform the general public that the Ishie Clan Council has never solicited for any financial assistance from anybody, as we are capable of burying our Assistant Secretary who unfortunately passed on.

“Besides, dates are yet to be fixed for his obsequies. The entire community is worried about this unfortunate social media criminality.

‘The public is therefore advised to be cautious of these criminal elements and to discountenance the entire contents of the publication.

‘Besides, the Council does not have any member with the name Chief Mensah,” he stated.
