Israel, Hamas agree to 4 day ceasefire, 50 hostages to be freed

Hamas and Israel say they’ve agreed to a four-day pause in the fighting in exchange for hostages.

Qatar, which mediated the deal, confirmed Wednesday the four-day pause was in exchange for 50 hostages. Hamas also said Israel will free around 150 jailed Palestinians. Both sides say they will release women and children.

Around 150 Palestinian women and children held in Israeli jails to be freed as part of the deal.

This comes after Israel’s government held an extraordinary cabinet meeting on Tuesday night.

It’s not clear however when the pause would begin, or when the hostages could be released.

Meanwhile, Israeli air raids have intensified during the last couple of hours across the Gaza Strip, while confrontations on the ground with Palestinian fighters and the Israeli occupation forces continued in different axes.

There are fears that air raids may intensify today before the agreement takes effect.

Notwithstanding, the short-term break will give a glimmer of hope to Palestinians who want to go back to their houses to check their lands and even pull the victims under the rubble.
