Jarigbe dedicates victory to God, acknowledges late CP Jimoh

A House of Representative member and now senator in waiting representing Cross River North in the National Assembly, Hon. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has dedicated his recent victory at the Appeal Court last Friday in Calabar to God and late Commissioner of Police Adbulkadir Lanre Jimoh who advised him to seek court redress over the December 5, 2020 by-elections when his mandate was highjacked by Stephen Odey who was announced winner of the election.

Jarigbe bore his feeling on Facebook saying “I want to thank God for making his word come to pass. I relied on His word in the book of Lamentations 3:36-37 all through this political tussle when humans arrogated the power of God to themselves, because of transient political positions”.

It is unfortunate he said, recalling his conversation at a hotel in Ogoja with Jimoh the police commissioner at the time who died mysteriously barely two weeks after the election on December 18th, 2020. He said the deceased had told him that he will get back his stolen mandate in the court of law which has come to pass and wished his soul rest while returning all glory to God.

It would be recalled that the three-man Appeal Tribunal headed by Justice Chioma I. Nwosu declared him the lawful candidate of PDP in the December 5, 2020 by-election for the seat and ordered the withdrawal of certificate of return earlier issued to Stephen Odey by INEC for reissuance to him as the duely elected Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District.

And in compliance with the judgements of the three distinct Courts – High, Appeal and Supreme on the matter, INEC is mandated to conduct By-election to fill the vacancy position created by Jarigbe’s victory for Obudu/Yala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives within 90 days.

Meanwhile Senator Stephen Odey has appealed to his supporters to remain calm in a statement issued recently by his media aid.
