JUST IN: SOS from a traveler reporting gunshots along road linking border communities in Vandikya, Obudu

Information reaching our newsroom has it that there was a barrage of gunshots along the road linking the two border communities of Vandikya Local Government Area of Benue State and Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State.

A traveler commuting from Benue to Cross River on the fateful day and witnessed the shootout being stocked himself informed The Lensnews on Saturday in Calabar.

“Please urgently inform our people to suspend traveling through Benue State, Vandikya LGA as serious gunshots between them and Obudu is ongoing. Treat as important Let’s be watchful and prayerful,” he said

The traveller who preferred anonymity sought the attention of Major General O. U Obono (Rtd.), the Senior State Security Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on the incidence with a view to addressing it.

However, at the time of filing this report, we cannot authoritatively confirm the cause of the infraction and whether any causality has been record. The two border communities in Cross River and Benue States have overtime been at loggerhead over boundary dispute.
