Kim Jong Un outlines development strategies for 2022

North Korean media say leader Kim Jong Un has outlined the country’s state policy for next year at a plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers’ Party.

The Wednesday edition of the party newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, says Kim set forth development strategies and major tasks for attaining rural development during the second day of the meeting on Tuesday.

He apparently stressed his stance to work on improving the country’s food situation.

The paper says on the first day, Kim’s address focused on “Direction of Party and State Work for 2022”.

The paper does not disclose what exactly Kim said.

The paper says the meeting is still in progress and suggests that a third-day session may be held.

December 30 will mark the 10th anniversary of Kim becoming the country’s top military commander.

An official at South Korea’s Unification Ministry points out that the plenary meeting is being held at the beginning of Kim’s next 10-year rule.

Attention is focused on whether Kim will clarify a new direction on the country’s relationship with the United States and its nuclear and missile programs.
