Lagos Building Collapse: Casualties now six, rescue efforts ongoing, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development resigns

The death toll from the seven-story building that collapsed in the Lekki area of Lagos state has risen to six.

As the painstaking process continues, first responders have been working for over 24 hours.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Idris Salako said that the building was sealed three times but the developer refused to halt construction.

Meanwhile, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has accepted the resignation of the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako.

This is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies.

Governor Sanwo-Olu thanks the Commissioner for his services to the State and wishes him success in his future endeavours.

The Governor also warns all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are.
