Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu, Cross River APC congratulates President Tinubu over tribunal victory

Following the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the case before the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja on Wednesday, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu the Lagos State Governor has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on the win.

Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that Wednesday’s ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Court in favour of President Tinubu is consoling as well as an affirmation of the will of the over eight million Nigerians who turned out to cast their ballots for the APC and President Bola Tinubu as their choice.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his chief press secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu said that the people of Nigeria had spoken through the ballot box and that the court has confirmed their choice with Wednesday’s judicial ruling which upheld President Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.

The Governor said that based on President Tinubu’s track record and commendable accomplishments as a two-term Governor of Lagos State, millions of Nigerians had no reason to question the mandate freely granted to him to steer the ship of Nigeria for four years.

“What we are seeing today is the splendour of democracy and the rule of law,” he remarked. More than eight million Nigerians participated in the election that chose Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to lead the Federal Republic of Nigeria in February of this year.

“Normally, we believed that the losers should have shown good sportsmanship by congratulating the victor (President Tinubu), but they instead opted to challenge the election results, which is within their rights. Now that the Court has confirmed the outcome of the election. I hope they’ll take the necessary action.

“I congratulate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu on his well deserved victory at the Presidential Election Tribunal Court.

“I also extend my congratulations to the leadership and members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, as well as to all Nigerians living in Nigeria and abroad for this historic legal victory.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged Nigerians of all political leanings to work with President Bola Tinubu to bring the true benefits of democracy to Nigerians through the Renewed Hope agenda of the current government.

In a similar fashion, the State Chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq, and the State Executive Committee and the entire members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Cross River State Chapter have also congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his Wednesday victory at the Presidential Election Petition Court.

Your resilience and strength in overseeing our complex nation amidst legal challenges have been truly remarkable. You’ve shown an indomitable spirit in navigating these trials with unwavering perseverance, culminating in this victory.

The felicitation was made Thursday through a press release signed by Hon. Emmanuel Edem Inyang JP, Assistant Publicity Secretary, APC, Cross River State Chapter.

The statement commended the Tinubu’s prowess in handling challenges in the ECOWAS region saying “you’ve demonstrated that addressing governance issues through democratic means is the way forward. This sets a positive example for our African neighbours.

“These distractions won’t deter your focus; they’ll fuel your commitment to good leadership. Your innovative solutions in addressing our nation’s challenges are already yielding remarkable results.

“Your leadership’s balanced representation fosters national unity from our rich diversity. It’s a path to healing our historical divisions.

“We urge opponents to accept the tribunal’s outcome maturely and with civility. Adjudication relies on facts and evidence, and time heals.

“Rest assured of our unwavering loyalty and support as you continue to govern”.
