Lawmaker counsels parents to raise children in the fear of God
A former chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Area and member representing Akamkpa II State Constituency in Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Linus Etim has advised parents to bring-up their children in the fear of God.
Hon. Etim bared his mind at the reception held in honour of little Miss. Etitem Monday Muffat in Ukpe Estate, Mfamosing, Akamkpa Local Government Area after her baptismal service on Sunday 5th May, 2024 in at the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, Aningeje, Aningeje Circuit, Cross River South Diocese, Cross River State.
In his admonition, Circuit Superintendent, Rev. Etteobong Joshua described the dedication and infant baptism as emulating the footsteps of our lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Referencing Mark 10:13-19 “And they brought young children to him, that he should touch, and his disciples rebuked those that brought them, but when Jesus saw it he was much displeased and said unto them, suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not; for of such is the Kingdom of God, verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter there-in, And He took them up in His arms, put His hand upon them and blessed them,” he urged parents to always bring their children to God first for dedication and baptism instead of dedicating them to family or demonic alters.
The event was attended by many people including Evangelist Ini Okpo from Lutheran Church of Nigeria (LCN), and Brother Emem James Akpan, church chairman.
