Lawmaker extols Governor Wike decision to remain in PDP

The member representing Calabar South, Akpabuyo, and Bakassi Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Apostle Essien Ayi has praised Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for not dumping the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) despite the pressure from concerned persons over the conspiracy and betrayal he suffered during the presidential primaries.

Hon. Essien Ayi who spoke through his Personal Assistant, Apostle John Etefia on Saturday in Calabar while talking with a LENS reporter eulogised Governor Wike for giving the assurance that he will hand over to a PDP elected successor in Rivers in 2023.

He seized the moment as well to thank Atiku Abubakar the Presidential flagbearer of the party for the 2023 elections and other party chieftains for the role they played in the Osun governorship election which guaranteed victory for Senator Ademola Adeleke, now PDP Governor lect.

Ayi appealed to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to use his fatherly disposition to pacify Governor Wike to achieve genuine reconciliation and give credence to the Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom for his unifying effort to rebuild the party and address perceived grievances generated during the presidential primaries.

The lawmaker congratulated Mr. Nsa Gill for his emergence as chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Cross River State chapter and wished him success in his tenure traversing the electioneering period into governance.
