LP governorship candidate promises payment of pensions if elected

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu State, Barr. Chijioke Edeoga has promised regular payment of pensions and other entitlements of pensioners if elected governor on March 11.

He stated this in Nsukka while addressing thousands of his supporters as part of his continued campaign for the forthcoming governorshp polls.

Edeoga, who is now the front-runner in the race to Enugu State Government House, following the sterling performance of the party in the just concluded National Assembly Elections, lamented the poor state of pensioners in the state.

He said that if elected, he will make payment of pensions and other entitlements of pensioners a priority.

“The plight of pensioners in Enugu State is very patethic and very disturbing and nobody is looking their way after 35 years of meritorious service.

“If elected governor on March 11, I promise to give priority attention to the needs of these heroes. They can never labour in vain, ” he said.

The LP candidate noted that many retired public servants were suffering untold hardship while a few individuals are feasting on the common wealth of the state.

“My government will reflect the wished of the masses. It is going to be an all-inclusive administration that takes care of the needs of generality of the people as against the few.

“I Know many retired public officers who left the office very brilliant and eager to establish themselves in continuation of their service to the state, but their expectations were cut short because they could not even meet the needs of their families.

“Some have died out of poverty, this will not continue under my watch, I promise to give public service workers their dues even in retirement, ” he said.

Edeoga, who is regarded as an epitome of humility and kindness by his supporters, further said that, he would be a worker friendly governor.
