Maina Deports to Nigeria from Niger
The fugitive former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, who was arrested in Niger Republic has been extradited back to Nigeria.
Maina is facing a 12-count money laundering charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The chartered aircraft conveying Maina landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at 2:30pm, Thursday and he is on his way to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters.
He is expected to resume his trial in a Federal High Court presided over by Okon Abang soon.
It could be recalled that Maina had jumped bail while undergoing trial for alleged two billion Naira fraud, before his arrest in Niger Republic by the country’s security agents.
The NPF say the arrest was possible because of an existing mutual relationship and security agreement between the two countries- Nigeria and Niger Republic.
