Matriarch Umo Hogan Bassey Interred

The remains of late Eka Chief Umo Hogan Bassey was buried at the family compound, Ikot Ishe town in Calabar municipal council Area of Cross River State after funeral services and parade by Boys Brigade, Calabar at PCN Ishi parish.

In a sermon by reverend (Barr.) N. Iyamba who quoted some portions from the bible said the ex-captain of Boys Brigade, former director in Cross River State, Library service and organizer of the annual festival of 9 lessons during Christmas has her name written in the book of life for dutiful and faithful Christian virtues while on earth and urged the living to emulate her.

The event was attended by the former governor of Cross River state Mr. Donald Duke. Others were Prof. Asanye Ikpeme, CMD UCTH, Rt. Hon. (Apostle) Essien Ayi (Member National Assembly, Reps.), past and immediate Chairmen of Calabar municipal council among other eminent guests.

In their tribute children and grandchildren in persons of Mr. Asuquo Bassey Solomon (ABSOL), Dr. Ene Okon Peters, Barr. Umo Peters described her as a loving and kind mother who impacted them greatly and wished her soul peaceful repose in the bosom of Abraham.
