Mayhem in Nko as soldiers invade the area
Residents of Nko Town in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State have cried out over the raid of the community which has led to the death of two men and many injured by soldiers drafted from the nearby Edor Military Barracks in Ikom Saturday to quell the communal clash between Nko and Onyadama.
A Cross River Watch Podcast and Cross River Watch TV news reveal that the Nigerian Army also in the wee hours of Sunday, June, 26th 2022 stormed the vicinity razing down buildings, and fired live bullets at villagers alleging that one of their own was killed by Nko youths warranting the reprisal.
Angry women from Nko abandoned church services on Sunday morning to protest partially nude brandishing green leaves and calling for an end to the raid as well as the release of their sons in army custody.
An unverified source said the soldiers have taken over the community while the palace of the village Head of Nko – Obol Effiom Ayomobi has been set ablaze and other buildings torched making residents, especially the men desert the community heightened by the death of Ebri Etta, a 37years old man said to have been shot dead by the soldiers as residents are now sheltering in nearby Mkpani and Ugep.
