Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Calabar Says the Church has trained a total of 2,783 youths from 2015-2021 in its Free Skill Acquisition and Youth Empowerment.
The Youth Pastor Obok James Ogede (MFM) Youth Church Calabar disclosed this to news men during the award of certificates to 214 participants for the year 2021.
He said that the youth empowerment began in 2015 and had a break in 2020 owing to the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic that paralyzed economic activities in the world.
According Pastor James Obok, a total of 512 youths were trained in 2015 523 in 2016 and 524 in 2017.He further said in 2018 the church also trained 488 youths, and 52 participants only respectively in 2019.
MFM noted that the training covered areas in Baking and Catering Services Shoe, Leather Works, Cosmology, Production and Interior Decoration and Event Management, Cinamotoahy.
He explained that the church was worried about the increasing rate of youth restiveness and that one of the causes was unemployment.
“The essence of the exercise is for the youth to acquire skill and be self employed because government alone cannot do it all”.
The Regional Overseer MFM South South Region 2, Calabar, Pastor Mike Ekone Said that the training was organized by MFM in collaboration with Wanobok Foundation. He advised the youth to sustain their blessings with prayer and live a holy life.
The Executive Director Mexon Petroleum and Energy Limited, Mr. Usen Dickson who delivered a lecture on how to raise capital to start business kicked against loan from bank.
He advised business men to borrow from family and friend, personal saving, partner with trust worthy friends and be self-discipline, and change their attitude toward people.
“For any business I am 100% against loan. I am taking from my practical aspect of it and it will sink down on incoming business man or woman”
“You can borrow from parents, or friends be aware that there are emotions that is attached to you. They work for ways to bless you in life but not from bank”.
“I advise every young men not to depend on government job. Government of Nigeria can not provide for everybody. Create on opportunity for yourself and family”
The commissioner for industry Hon. Peter Egba who attended the event commended MFM for contributing to the society and urged the youths to take advantage of the excises.
LENS correspondent reports that the decoration of the event centre, cake, meat pie for the occasion were designed and produced by the young enterprising youths.
