N.Korea says it can ‘shake the world’ by firing missiles capable of reaching US
North Korea has described its repeated missile launches as historic achievements that are aimed at strengthening war deterrence.
North Korea’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the country’s nuclear and missile programs on Tuesday, the anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Army.
It touted the seven test firings that it carried out last month. The launch of a Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile on January 30 was among those firings.
The statement also referred to the intercontinental ballistic missile-class Hwasong-15 that was launched in November 2017. It said North Korea can “shake the world” by firing a missile that is capable of reaching the US mainland.
South Korea’s intelligence service has suggested the North could fire an ICBM and disguise it as a satellite launch.
North Korea’s state-run website claims the country kick-started a new five-year space development plan last year that has already produced results.
