Naira Marley threatens to sue for N500m over Mohbad death, seeks apology from Iyabo Ojo

Nigerian musician Afeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley is requesting a public apology from Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo for what he claims to be libel and defamation adding, if Ojo doesn’t apologize, he would sue for N500 million.

In a letter dated December 12, Naira Marley, accompanied by Olalekan Ojo, his attorney, accused Iyabo Ojo of spreading harmful, false, and defamatory content about him on her Instagram account.

However, after learning of Mohbad’s death, the focus of the public has shifted to Naira Marley and his partner, Balogun Eletu, also referred to as Sam Larry; actress Iyabo Ojo is leading the charge in advocating for justice for the late singer.

The late artist has also been accused of being bullied or harassed by Naira Marley, an accusation he maintains is untrue.

On September 12, Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s record label, died at the age of 27 in an unexplained incident.

Prior to his passing, Mohbad expressed worries and blamed his previous employer, Naira Marley, in the event that something were to happen to him.

Regretfully, Mohbad passed away in the midst of a storm including allegations of assault, intimidation, and threats from Sam Larry, the boss of Marlian Records, and others.

But Naria Marley and his friends were taken into custody and released on conditional bail.

Ojo, meanwhile, has led the fight for Mohbad’s justice ever since Mohbad passed away.

She said that Naira Marley had harassed Mohbad and created the stress that ultimately resulted in the singer’s demise.

A few days after Mohbad’s passing, on September 18, she wrote, “Even though I (Iyabo Ojo) have sent boys to you (Naria Marley), you disappointed us wahali, but you had a hand in everything that caused that boy’s pain, agony, and trauma; if you claim you don’t have a hand in it, then come out and defend yourself. Naira Marly, you dealt with that boy (MOHBAD) mentally, physically, and spiritually by sabotaging him.

The attorney for Naira Marley made reference to some of Iyabo Ojo’s online posts and requested that, within seven days of receiving the letter, the actress issue an apology on her official Instagram account and in a national daily. If she fails to do so, the attorneys will file a lawsuit and seek N500 million in damages as well as a court order prohibiting Iyabo Ojo from repeating similar defamatory remarks.
