Nasarawa/Bacoco residents in Calabar Municipality lament paucity of amenities in the community

The Nasarawa/Bacoco community in Calabar Municipal Council predominantly resided by Hausa/Fulani ethnic stock has decried the absence of basic amenities like water, electricity, functional health facilities and good roads via a save-our-soul message (SOS) presented to newsmen on Sunday May 12, 2024 by the Head of Hausa/Fulani community, Sani Baba Gombe

He complained that life has been difficult for residents in the area due to lack of basic amenities and used the occasion to call on all the relevant government agencies to come to their rescue as the only road leading to the vicinity and water board pipes were cut-off by the gully erosion ravaging the suburb located outside the Calabar metropolitan city.

Speaking to newsmen on the condition of anonymity in separate interviews, some residents attributed the deplorable condition of infrastructures in the community to lack of Local Government Administration headed by a chairman and councilors contending that since the last Local Government Administration ended, another has not been constituted. They as well say the third tier of government in the state is underfunded and so is incapable of developing the area which has impacted on the quality of life of the people residing in the outskirts.

Effort by the LENS Reporter to contact Hon. Stanley Nsemo, Member Representing Calabar Municipality State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly for his comment was naught as at the time of filing this report.
