Naval rating in Calabar invade church to kill pastor over girlfriend

The Pastor of Spoken Word Revelation Ministry located at No. 7 Apostolic Church Road, Ikot Ansa, Calabar in Cross River State escaped death by the whiskers on Friday, August 5 when a Naval Rating by name Daniel Namson from Langtang in Plateau State invaded the church armed with dangerous weapons with a colleague to kill Evangelist Wilfred Lucas, a native of Edondon in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State whom he accused of frustrating his bid to marry his girlfriend Joy a congregant of his church.

Eye witness report revealed that the pastor who was not in the church was informed by neighbors who had sporadic gunshots by the attacker that he should not go to the church as the military men were destroying things in the church which they broke into damaging chairs, piano, standing fan and carted away the generating set.

An investigation by LENS Reporter revealed that the culprit who resides in Block 10, last floor Room 3 at Old Eburutu Army Barracks has been arrested and detained by the RSM office upon confirmation of the incident for necessary action but a leader in the church Mr. Sunday Lucas who is a brother to the pastor is afraid the Army may release him to the Naval Police who may truncate investigation and said appropriate steps should be taken to save the pastor’s life.

Efforts to get the Naval authority to speak on the matter proved abortive as an inside source who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed that the culprit’s mother has called the pastor from Jos to forgive his son for the unfortunate incident as they are yet to know who sent the Pastor’s phone number to the mother of the Naval Rating.
