‘Never compromise on ethics, core values and standards guiding the corps’ _ NSCDC tell recruits

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has urged the 94 personnel newly recruited in Akwa Ibom into the Corps to exhibit high-level discipline.

This order was given by the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi, during the passing-out parade of the 2019 recruits in Uyo, yesterday.

Audi, who was represented by Mr Bassey Bassey, the Deputy Commandant General, said that they should not compromise on the ethics, core values, and standards guiding the corps.

“We have a standard of operational procedures which we expect all our officers to operate with, so, as you come in, you have to abide by the corps service rules.

“We have ethics that guide us as uniform men and we expect that all of our personnel should be guided by our ethics to serve this nation.

“Our officers must be disciplined and shun corruption, compromise, and anything that will bring a bad image to the corps, and that is all we expect from all of you,” he said.

He reminded the newly recruited personnel that over 1.5 million people applied for the job but only 5,000 people were selected, therefore should count themselves lucky.

He said the recruitment became necessary to boost the corps and enable them to execute its core mandate which includes; the protection of the critical national asset, among other responsibilities.

The commandant general charged the recruits to also exhibit loyalty, commitment, dedication, and service delivery to the corps.

Earlier in his remarks, the Akwa Ibom Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Abidemi Majekodunmi, said that the recruits would have been on board long ago but were hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic and charged them to remain loyal, committed to the rules and regulations guiding the service.

He expressed the hope that their recruitment would help in tackling some security challenges facing the nation.
