New Cross River CP says no place for criminals, introduce information boxes to harvest security information

The new Commissioner of Police in Cross River, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah has said there will be no hiding place anywhere in the State for criminal elements as he is set to introduce information boxes.

The CP made this known in a maiden press briefing held at his office, State Police Headquarters Diamond Hill, Calabar, where he called on all and sundry to unite and collaborate to build a safe Cross River for business and other activities to thrive.

While calling community and traditional leaders to be security cautious and report nefarious activities to the Police, he warned that the Command will not hesitate to “wage total clampdown against criminal elements indulging in kidnapping cultism, armed robbery and other sundry vices in the state.

The State Police boss further warned that: “all the enemies of peace, persons or groups of persons unlawfully acquiring and possessing firearms to willfully have a change of mind as anything contrary will attract consequence.

In a bid to actualize it, he ordered and directed that “Information boxes” be introduced and are to be placed at strategic public places including the Area Command Headquarters/Divisional Headquarters level to enable members of the public to pass security information to the police undercover. He added that: “It is crystal clear that Police personnel alone cannot accomplish the set goals without the collaborative efforts of members of the public.”

Specifically, the CP said the strategic locations will include places like motor parks, restaurants, schools, worship centers, and others.

He lauded the press in the State for their reportage and cordial relationship with the Command, saying it should continue.
