NHIS to commence drugs manufacturing_ Yakubu

The General Manager, Standards and Quality Assistance Department, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Dr Yakubu Agada-Amade has hinted that the organization would commence manufacturing of pharmaceutical therapy in the country.

He made this disclosure during Stakeholders Forum organized by NHIS at D’Angelo Hotel, Ewet Housing Estate, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Tuwdday.

According to him, with the commitment of the organization, the country would be relieved of importations of some drugs and thereby boost the economy and prevent wastage.

The General Manager represented by Dr.(Mrs) Ebere Ukoh, said NHIS branded drugs would guarantee substantial reduction in the prices of drugs and stop the non-stock syndrome as well as make drugs accessible to all.

Speaking on the topic: Quality Management Under the NHIS, Agada-Amade said that good health of the people was very important, urging government to attach more priority to the health sector.

“To achieve Universal Health Care in Nigeria, quality care is critical. All hands must be on deck to ensure that we deliver quality care to all Nigerians”

The State Coordinator of NHIS, Mr. Ebiokobo William, commended the scheme for the strong synergy and collaboration with health facilities in the state.

He said the scheme has been embarking on sporadic assessment in different facilities to gather first hand information.

Williams said that NHIS was liaising with the state government to get health insurance package into law.
