Nigeria Senate convenes emergency plenary, agenda unclear

The Nigerian senate is now holding an emergency plenary session barely two days left for the presidential inauguration,

The 2022 supplementary appropriation act amendment bill, the CBN act amendment bill, the Nigerian minerals and mining act (repeal & re-enactment) bill, and the Nigerian weight and measures regulatory agency (establishment) bill are among the submitted bills for discussion.

Lawmakers are gradually making their way into the chambers, with the Senate President Ahmed Lawan presiding.

This is the second occasion in the 9th Senate that an emergency session has been called, the first being during the COVID-19 pandemic to allocate funds to combat the pandemic.

As at the time of filing this report, the specific agenda of this emergency session remains unclear.
