Nigerian Army commences recruitment for Short Service and Executive Commission courses
The Nigerian Army has begun recruitment exercise for the Short Service Commission Course 47 and Executive Commission Course 1/2021. The exercise for prospective candidates was held at its training area, Falgore Forest, in Kano State.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai says the decision to conduct the exercise in Falgore Forest was to guarantee selection of quality candidates for training and subsequent deployment to defend the country appropriately.
Chief of Training and Operations, Major-General Nuhu Angbazo, who represented the Chief of Army Staff at the event charged the candidates to be serious with the exercise, saying only those who meet the certified criteria would be selected.
He said they must be ready to stand their grounds in defense of the country against bandits and terrorists, as they may be posted to the northeast, particularly the Sambisa forest.
A Federal Character Commission Commissioner, Major-General Suleiman Saheed (Rtd.), said the board would ensure that only qualified candidates would be selected, stressing that merit would be considered.
It was disclosed that at the end of the selection process, successful candidates for the Short Service will proceed for nine months of training at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, while those for the executive commission move to Kachia, for four months of intensive training.
