Nigerian Central Bank boss flags off Project 100 for 100

Nigeria Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele has flagged off the project 100 for 100, an initiative from the CBN geared towards increasing productivity and wealth creation for the economy.

He made the announcement on the project bothering on production and productivity on Monday in a ceremony held at the CBN main auditorium in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The regulatory bank helmsman said several proposals were received from companies across multiple sectors and requests went through a very strenuous process to ensure they meet the requirements.

Emefiele says a total of 28 companies whose proposals have been duly screened and certified to have clearly articulated projects were awarded this funding opportunity to the tune of 23.2 billion nairas.

These companies comprise 14 manufacturing projects, 12 agricultural projects, and 2 health projects, which when fully operational will generate over twenty thousand jobs directly and indirectly across our economy and earn us over 125 million dollars in foreign exchange.

However, he said, “We’ll go back and review the list of those who may have issues we would like to deal with and see how more and more companies qualify”.

According to him, ” This is a project that is meant to stimulate production output in Nigeria, create jobs, and reduce over-reliance on imports”.
