Nine oil producting communities in Ilaje, Ondo protest over neglect

A multitude of protesters from nine communities in Ilaje local government area of Ondo state have protested neglect of their communities by oil companies operating in their domains.

Armed with placards with various inscriptions, the angry protesters alleged that the oil giant, Chevron has abandoned them for many years.

They invaded Awoeye where the chevron facility is located, chanting solidarity songs and displaying placards of divers inscriptions.

They said the protest would continue until their demands are addressed by chevron, the multi-national oil company exploring crude oil from the area.
