Nka Afid Ndito Akwa Ibom in Cross River State celebrate Akwa Ibom at 37

A Socio-Cultural Association, “Nka Afid Ndito Akwa Ibom”, a congregation of all Akwa Ibom State indigenes residents in Cross River State celebrate Akwa Ibom on the 37th anniversary of the State creation on Monday September 23rd 2024 in Calabar.

The venue was at No. 55 IBB way, Calabar, Cross River State which equally witnessed the swearing-in of new executive by the Legal Adviser Barrister Chris Ekong.

In an opening speech by its International President, Capt. Itoro Augustine watched by members in 16 other States of the federation where the group has footprint, disclosed that the body is apolitical hence urged members not to link the association to any political party though are free to vote any candidate of their choice during elections.

In his acceptance speech after their inauguration, the state chairman of Nka Afid Ndito Akwa Ibom, Apostle Gideon Solomon Umoh promised to promote the ethics of the body in his administration and to carry his exco along while fostering unity among Akwa Ibomites in Cross River State.

A prominent indigene of Akwa Ibom, Ukai Etop Peters implored leadership of all various groups to form a synergy to actualize the vision of creating Akwa Ibom State on September 23rd 1987 to the next level.

Fielding questions from newsmen after the ceremony, Mr. George Otu, Secretary General of the association thanked God for the success of the event. He urged Akwa Ibom indigenes resident in the 18 Local Government Areas of the state and those in the Diaspora to replicate the same gesture by coming together to ginger the Dakkada Spirit of Akwa Ibomites in the nation.

The program featured cutting of cake, “Uto Iko Ibibio” (Ballad in Ibibio) by Vice Chairman Elder Effiong Umoh Ekwere as well as cultural display.
