NLC, TUC Knocks FG over Fuel; Electricity Tax Hike

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, have described the increase in fuel and electricity tariff as well as the push for water resources bill as anti-people and orchestrated tactics by the FG to suffocate the ordinary Nigerian.

At a briefing in Abuja on Thursday, the organised labour groups threatened to paralise activities in some states where the Governors have deliberately refused to implement the adjustment of the New National minimum wage.

The organized labour group reeled out some of the policies they described as anti-people to include increase in fuel and electricity tariffs, the controversial water resources bill and the Companies and Allied Matters Amendment Act, CAMA 2020.

The Unions disclosed as well that it has also began mobilising for protest over allegation of anti-labour practices in Rivers State.

They posit that with the impact of COVID-19 hitting Nigerians harder than expected,  states and the federal government should formulate and implement policies that will not only develop infrastructures, but as well implement better welfare packages for workers.
