NNPCL, IPMAN reach agreement on direct supply to end scacity
The scarcity of petrol and arbitrary increases experienced across the country would abate soonest following an agreement reached by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Stakeholders in the downstream sub-sector of the oil and gas industry recently met with different security agencies in a renewed determination to resolve the issue.
IPMAN’s national operations controller, Mike Osatuyi, who confirmed the development said IPMAN is not planning to shut down operations following the federal government’s announcement to enforce N195 a liter pump price for PMS.
Under the agreement, Osatuyi said, members of the association will begin to get supplies directly from the NNPC.
He added that going forward, the independent marketers in breaking the festering scarcity, have received assurance of direct supply of petrol from the NNPC.
The moves came on the heels of a critical meeting between NNPC, the Major Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), IPMAN, Depots and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), and the Department of State Services (DSS) among other critical stakeholders.
