‘No god-fatherism in YPP’_ Nat. Chairman

The National Executive Council of the Young Progressives Party led by Comrade Emmanuel Amakiri met with the Akwa Ibom Chapter Chairmen, Ward Chairmen and other executive members over what he described as a strategic meeting.

The meeting was held at the State Secretariat of the party along 4 Lanes Uyo, the state capital.

Recalled that the YPP last Saturday received Senator Bassey Albert of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its fold with over 200 persons from the PDP and other political parties in the state.

The meeting political observers say may not be unconnected with plans to put machinery in place for the party to ensure that its governorship aspiration of taking over Akwa Ibom state from the PDP in 2023 through the popularity of Senator Bassey Albert Akpan is realised.

In his remarks, the State Secretary of the Young Progressives Party, Amb. Kelvin Umoh reviewing the period since the party came to the state in 2017, said YPP was the fastest growing political Party in Nigeria and in Akwa Ibom.

He noted that with the wind of change blowing across the nation and state politically, YPP was meeting to mobilize, sensitize and create the needed awareness across the 31 council areas in the state, so that its dream for 2023, would be actualized.

Welcoming the national and other officers of the party, the state chairman, Dr. Nyeneime Andy appreciates God Almighty for his grace and also was full of gratitude to the members of the National Executive Council for having been so relaxed ever since they came into Akwa Ibom State.

Earlier, Comrade Amakiri in his response was grateful to all members of the National Executive Council for standing by him to push the party forward to where it is today.

He was also grateful to the State Executives, Chapter Chairmen, Ward Chairmen, and other executives for their steadfastness and sincerity to keep the flag of the party flying.

Amakiri congratulated candidates of the Party in various positions who were in attendance and Senator Albert Akpan the party’s governorship candidate and urged all party fateful to be owners of the party as there was no God fatherism in YPP.

High points of the event were the introduction of the Party Governorship aspirant by Sir Emem Akpabio, the Campaign Chairman of Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Organisation, in the person of Senator Bassey Albert – OBA.

In his remarks, the governorship aspirant, thanked the NEC of the Party, the State Chairman of the party, Dr. Nyeneime Andy, who had withdrawn from the guber race as the candidate of the party, and solicited the support of the party to enable him to emerge as the candidate of the party in the fresh primaries to be conducted on Thursday 4th August 2022.
