OBA Scholar emerges Faculty best-graduating student

The earnest desire of any University undergraduate is to graduate with a fantastic academic record to provide a leverage in the face of stiff competition in the future.

For Linda Michael, a brilliant young lady in her early 20s, defining the future was a motivating factor when she gained admission to study Biochemistry at the University of Uyo in 2017.

In early 2019, Linda seized the moment and registered for the qualifying examination of Senator Obong Albert Bassey Akpan’s scholarship scheme. She skipped past the 60th percentile and secured a spot as one of 240 scholars for the second phase.

The journey toward her academic inclination at the undergraduate level climaxed when the Senate of the University of Uyo, on the 2nd of June, 2023, approved her final result. Linda did not just bag honours but set a stunning academic record in her department with a CGPA of 4.67.

The result positioned her above her peers in the Faculty of Basic Medical Students, hence awarded the best student of nearly 300 graduates. Linda adds to the list of 34 others who previously bagged first-class honours.

According to her, the scholarship award boosted her confidence and left her with no option but to be focused and project into the future, not minding the challenges ahead.
