OBA to scale up small and medium businesses to benefit every day Akwa Ibom people
Obong Bassey Albert Akpan is ready to take hopelessness amongst the low class away and reposition them to have a brighter future. A section of his unique blueprint focuses on businesses for youths, women, and men through Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) towards the path of economic recovery. OBA intends to create wealth and prosperity.
The plan by the incoming YPP government is to create wealth, open up several businesses, provide jobs, and grow existing small businesses to a higher level.
This effort is intended to reduce poverty by at least 30% among the everyday Akwa Ibom person in the next 4 years. And with small-scale businesses participating actively in the economy, it will reduce dependence on neighbouring states for semi-finished and finished products.
Presently, the State’s economy suffers 50% capital flight as daily several millions of naira of government’s and people’s private incomes leave the State to buy products from neighbouring states.
When industrial Clusters of small businesses are established within reach across wards in the State, tax reduction is implemented as well as multiple taxations are checked, it would encourage local production of goods thereby diminishing capital flight.
The proposed 50 billion naira Prosperity Trust Fund to boost entrepreneurship will benefit MSMEs. Funds through cooperative societies at a single-digit interest would be of tremendous positive impact on beneficiaries. This mode of wealth creation is going to take a lot of citizens at the lower rung out of poverty into prosperity.
For the masses to enjoy the dividends of democracy maximally, OBA’s blueprint is aimed at narrowing the poverty gap by properly harnessing resources from oil to develop the non-oil sector, especially small businesses.
With investors and entrepreneurs forming part of the economic development plan, they will establish strategic hubs suitable for micro, medium, and small businesses that would involve the local population in both execution and operation. Involvement in such businesses will transfer skills, knowledge, and wealth to locals.
Given the YPP’s concern to reposition the medium and small businesses in the state, a vote for Senator Bassey Albert Akpan on March 11 is the real deal.
