‘OBA will win the governorship primary in PDP’_ Campaign Spokesman
The Spokesman for Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Organisation, political machinery of OBA, Dr. Usoro I. Usoro told journalists at the campaign office on Sunday that attempts by some hireling agents and mischievous politicians to mislead with the intention to diminish the support base of Senator Albert Akpan have again been truncated.
Usoro described such attempts as “fruitless efforts from desperate and sinking politicians, who have run out of meaningful ideas”.
Reminiscing the recent claims in government-sponsored newspapers making the rounds that his Principal Senator Bassey Albert has either dropped his governorship mission or contemplated decamping, the Spokesman reaffirmed that his principal is not just routed in PDP but is contesting the primary to win.
Asked, specifically, if it was true that the Senator had already picked a nomination form from another party, particularly YPP, Usoro said the idea only exists in the minds of the perpetrators.
His word: “Distinguished colleagues, let me state here that our Principal, Senator OBA has not decamped to any other party. He remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and will contest the forthcoming PDP Governorship primaries on May 23, 2022, and, he will win. Let me say this again for emphasis, OBA is not going anywhere else!”
He said his principle has become a prayer point and a major object of discussion in government circles because they are scared that as governor, he will demystify governance as well as up the bar of delivering democratic dividends to the people.
Usoro while affirming that Senator Bassey Akpan was optimistic about winning the forthcoming primaries, said news of his defection was cooked up by those who are scared of his popularity and thus opt for ignoble means to mislead the delegates.
Dr. Usoro said OBA’s track record has shown that he has something to offer to the people when he becomes the governor, wondering why some people would waste resources sponsoring falsehood against the senator if they were not threatened by his capacity.
He described the Senator as a loyal and faithful party man, charging the delegates to disregard the fake news making the rounds and remain focused, committed, and resolute in their decision to support him as the best man for the hilltop job.
He then challenged the opponents to “convince the delegates based on their pedigree and experience, rather than employing falsehood, blackmail, negative propaganda all in their desperate effort to confuse the delegates”.
Some of OBA’s laudable projects that have earned him much admiration and support include human capital development as well as the unparalleled feat of sponsoring over 481 university students on his scholarship scheme.
