Obasanjo meets Benin President over Igboho’s trial

The former president Olusegun Obasanjo is reported to have travelled to Benin last week to meet President Patrice Talon of Benin Republic.

The anecdotal visit is not unconnected with effort by OBJ to seek soft landing for the Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho in his ongoing trial in Benin court.

Recall that following the bloody raid on Igboho’s Soka residence in Ibadan, Oyo State on July 1, the agitator for the Yoruba nation, was reported to have fled with his spouse to Benin and was apprehended at the airport.

DSS had said its operatives carried out the raid after intelligence report confirmed that he was stockpiling arms in his home, arrested and detained 13 of his associates. Two of Igboho’s supporters later identified as Adogan and Alfa were also killed during the raid.

And since after his arrest, he is on trial in Benin court.
