Obi Cubana queized by Nigeria’s antigraft agency EFCC has regained freedom

A popular socialite and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, aka Obi Cubana, who was arrested on Monday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been released after more than 24 hours of questioning Tuesday at about 7:36 pm.

The businessman’s friend and colleague, Onwumelu Valentine, broke the news of his release on Tuesday evening.

The Anambra-born tycoon, who arrived at the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi Abuja at about 12 pm was interrogated by operatives of the commission on alleged money laundering and tax fraud.

When contacted, the Spokesman of the Commission, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said he was yet to be briefed on the development.

The 46-year-old recently caught media attention and has trended on social media, following the recent lavish burial ceremony of his mother in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
