Ogoja Catholic Church deny demanding show of PVC by parishioners
Against the backdrop of the viral video on Rev. Father Nicodemus Nnaji denying parishioners entry into mass service at ST. Matthew’s Parish is trending on the Cross River Watch podcast via Cross River watch TV of Utugwang, Obudu on Sunday, June 12th, 2022, the All Hallows chancery in a disclaimer signed by the Ogoja Diocesan Director of Social Communication – Rev. Father Emmanuel Eroh has said that the Bishop, Most Rev. Donatus Akpan regrets the inconvenience caused the parishioners by the decision of the priest which is not in tandem with the policy of the diocese and Catholic Church.
“The Bishop frowns at the action of Rev. Fr. Ajil and reiterates that this is never a diocesan policy and disassociates himself and the diocese from the unfortunate incident and there-by regrets any inconvenience the action may cause and hint that the priest in question has been call to order” the disclaimer revealed.
However, His Lordship Most Rev. Donatus Akpan encourages all Christians to be committed to registering and obtaining their PVC which is a civic responsibility for Nigerians of voting age to elect leaders at different levels of government during the 2023 general elections.
Recently, there has been a rise in the call for Nigerians of voting age as well as young folks that have turned 18 to register and get their PVC before the June 30 deadline set by INEC. However, a court has ordered the extension of the date which coincides with the appeal by some members of the National Assembly and concerned Nigerians for it to be a continuous exercise.
