One killed,  another injured as robbers raid street in Calabar, others

A 400-level student of the Department of Political Science, University of (UNICAL), has been reportedly shot dead by a gang of armed robbers on Tuesday morning in Calabar.

Eyewitnesses told newsmen that the student identified as Odey Michael Efenji, was shot on Tuesday 21 November, 2023, along Goldie Street Calabar by a gang of armed robbers who were around the area at about 2 am.

The student is said to hail from Utugwang in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State.

One of the victims who craved anonymity explained that the incident “leaves fears and anxiety in the minds of students and residents” where the robbery took place.

An eyewitness explained that one of the victims was shot in the leg because he struggled with the robbers over his tv set.. Cash and other valuable items were said to have been rustled.

As at the time of filling this report, the corpse has been moved to the morgue while the injured was rushed to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) by the police.

Also, His Royal Highness, Chief Felix Abanbeshie Okudare, has emerged as the new paramount Ruler of Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State.

He takes over from the departed Paramount Ruler, His Royal Majesty Uti (Dr) J.D. Agba OON, Uti Itedem III of Utugwang, Uti Ukani I of Obudu, and the paramount ruler of Obudu, who was intered a few days ago.

Until his nomination, HRH Chief Felix Abanbeshie Okudare was the Clan head of the Bette Clan, a natural king.

He once served as the Chairman, Governing Council of the Cross River University of Technology, now the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS).
