Otu kicks off construction of 29.87 kilometers Oban-Nsan road

Cross River State Governor Senator Bassey Otu has launched a landmark road construction spanning 29.87 kilometers to connect communities in Akamkpa Local Government Area. This project is his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises at facilitating connectivity across the state.

Addressing attendees at the flag-off ceremony for the road project, Governor Otu represented by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Honorable Ankpo Pius Edet, reiterated his administration’s dedication to delivering on its pledges. He called for patience while assuring the people that every domain of the State irrespective of location would benefit from his government.

And emphasizing his commitment to prioritizing projects based on their broader impact rather than individual interest, Governor Otu expressed empathy for the challenges faced by communities with poor road infrastructure. He pledged swift action to transform their bases, ensuring safer and more accessible transportation routes.

Otu underscored the apolitical nature of the Oban-Nsan road project, stressing its alignment with his administration’s ethos of responsiveness to citizens’ needs, particularly vulnerable groups like women and children who are endangered by bad roads.

In his words: “Our decision to embark on this project isn’t driven by political motives. It’s a divine mandate guiding our governance, not political affiliations.”

Acknowledging the instrumental role of Hon. Ankpo Pius Edet, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, in securing the project, Governor Otu sought constructive criticism that would improve governance. He expressed confidence that with concerted efforts, such criticisms would evolve into constructive engagements thereby fostering community development.

Upon completion, the Oban-Nsan road will enhance connectivity for residents of Akamkpa LGA, impacting socio-economic development of the area.

Mr. Micheal Asuquo, Chairman/CEO of Faithplant Global Int’l Services, conveyed gratitude to the Governor for the timely intervention, pledging unwavering support for the People First Agenda

of government.

Again, the Paramount Ruler of Akamkpa appreciated Otu while invoking blessings and divine guidance for the success of the project.

The event had in attendance political stakeholders across party lines from the local government as well as persons from the business community and indigenes of the area.
