Otu orders immediate payment of all state and local government workers, pensioners
The Cross River State Governor Senator Bassey Otu has directed the immediate payment of all state and local government workers as well as pensioners.
In a release made available by Emmanuel Ogbeche, his Chief Press Secretary, he directed that all unpaid salaries and pensions be paid immediately while those with issues be verified and cleared for the payment of February salaries.
According to the release, he “sincerely sympathizes with all employees and pensioners for the delay due to ongoing staff and pension audit and verification exercise.”
Otu said to ensure the seamless payment of February salaries and pensions, those with duplicate names and accounts, which have been made public, to report to the Office of the Head of Service for authentication.
Emmanuel noted that the “names of the affected staff have also been sent to the respective MDAs for that purpose.”
“The Governor is desirous to save sufficient funds from the audit and verification exercise in order to commence the IMMEDIATE employment of the teeming unemployed Cross Riverians into the State and Local Government Service”, he added.
