PDP aspirant urges kingmakers to allow open contest in 2023 governorship race

Mr. Arthur Javis Archibong, a Governorship Aspirant for the 2023 Election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has urged Chieftains of the party to allow for an open contest during the primaries.

Speaking to Journalists on Thursday in Calabar on his ambition to govern the State come 2023, he said aspirants should be allowed to showcase their credentials and what each is capable of doing.

According to him, the party in the state needs a leader with a high capacity to pilot the affairs of the state.

Archibong said that his intention to contest the office of governor of the state was based on his belief to deliver democracy dividends to the people of the state.

Jarvis, who is the Chancellor of Arthur Javis University Akpabuyo, in Akpabuyo Local Government Area said he was the only aspirant with the requisite capacity to turn around the fortunes of the state.

“No single individual amongst all those vying for the seat of governor has the capacity to rescue the state much as I do.

“It is in this regard that I call on Chieftains of our party not to deny credible individuals the opportunity to lead the state.

“If I am given the opportunity, I will do everything within my reach to uproot our state from the shackles of poverty, ” he said.

He said I have all it takes to restore the state to its past glory days.

According to him: “we must create business modules to break the chains of total dependence on the paltry federal allocation made available to the state on monthly basis.

“This is not the state that we have known, we as a people, as a party has refused to hold leadership accountable.

“We need a visionary leader, capable of bringing people together in “cooperatives” with reasonable funding, to ensure that wealth is put in the hands of the people.
