The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) said that the party is still formidable in Cross River State and that PDP will still win all elections in the State.
Prince Mike Oyesi, State Publicity Secretary of the party gave the assurance in an interview with our correspondent at the party secretariat in Calabar yesterday.
He said that as far as he was concerned PDP has no fear in the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency By-Election coming up soon to fill the vacant seat vacated by Agom Jarigbe Agom who is now in the Red chambers of the national assembly.
Hear him “PDP is going to win the election. That has been the business that we do every day. We are sure and convinced that we will win the elections”.
On whether the party will give the Ogoja/Yala House of Representative ticket to a woman or a man, Oyesi explained that the party has been gender-friendly but noted that the party wants to democratize politics and whoever wins will be the flag bearer.
Speaking further, Prince Oyesi said that the ticket is automatically for Yala constituency since a Senator is now in Ogoja Constituency.
According to him, it is proper, for justice, fair play, and equity to give the seat of House of Representatives to Yala.
“For now we have not called for nomination forms and since we have not started assembling their names I cannot give you the number of people in the race but even if it is one person in the race we are assured that we will win.”
PDP alleged that the governor who defected from the party to the All Progressive Congress (APC) recently stole all the party equipment from their former secretariat.
“You can see there is no chair, no table and no document. We are standing conducting this interview. We have challenged Ayade for our mandate in Abuja High Court.
“We gave him success, we gave him our mandate and it is unconstitutional to leave a political party that gave you mandate to another political party without resignation”
“Ayade and his deputy must resign first. We must get our mandate. PDP must defeat him. Agom Jarigbe Agom who was in the Federal House of Representatives defeated Ayade as a governor in the Supreme Court. Ayade will suffer the same defeat in the Federal House of Representative by-election”.
