PDP chieftain harps on strength of party in Cross River State
A People’s Democratic Party chieftain and former chairman of Bakassi Local Government Council, Hon. Emman Etene has urged party faithful in the state to brace up for its candidate, Senator (Prof.) Sandy Onor’s victory in the gubernatorial race.
His pronouncement may not be unconnected to the insinuation made in some quarters that the closing of ranks in the ruling party as a result of Senator John Owan-Enoh’s recent withdrawal of litigation and urging his supporters to back Otu has scaled up and positioned the All Progressives Congress – APC- governorship candidate in Cross River, Senator Prince Bassey Otu to sweep the polls in 2023.
Etene barred his mind in a chat with LENS Reporter at his country home in Calabar as he hosted friends to a Christmas get-together on Saturday, December 31st, 2022.
Sounding philosophical, he referenced Isaiah 54:15 “Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me, whosoever shall gather against thee shall fall for thy sake,” arguing that though the plot is to split votes in Etung Local Government Area where both Senator Owan-Enoh and Senator Sandy Onor hails from, the gambit favours Senator Onor who is the political Caterpillar that will bulldoze his way to victory at the polls.
He cautioned against vote-buying and undue intimidation of electorates as well as primitive attempts to rig the elections which may truncate a smooth electoral process in the state.
