PDP summons Wike over anti-party activities after daring PDP Governors over control of party structure
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike over alleged anti-party activities.
Wike was summoned to appear before the PDP disciplinary committee.
This was made known on Monday by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi, who disclosed in an interview with Channels TV that the former Rivers State Governor has been sent a letter to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee.
Abdullahi added that Wike’s statement about putting fire in their states about PDP governors is unacceptable.
According to him, “Wike should be able to manage his words carefully; that was a very disappointing remark. We weren’t expecting him to say that, and we are not with him on that, to be honest with you.”
Recall Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory had dared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, to handover the structure of the party in Rivers State to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The PDP Governors’ Forum had during their recent meeting in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, declared support for Fubara, who has been having a running political battle with the minister.
But, addressing PDP stakeholders during the party’s state congress in Port Harcourt yesterday, Wike threatened to cause crisis in the respective states of the governors.
He said: “Let me assure you, not while we live will anybody take away the PDP structure from us. Let me tell you people; I hear that there are some governors who said they will take away the structure and give to somebody. I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states.
“When God has given you peace, you said you don’t want peace; whatever you see, you take.”
Wike urged members of the party in the state to work towards taking control of the state government in 2027.
The position of the PDP was made known hours after Wike expressed his contentment with serving under President Bola Tinubu, despite the criticisms and speculations surrounding his appointment.
Wike, a longstanding member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the only opposition member in Tinubu’s cabinet had declared that anyone angry with his position in Tinubu’s government should go and hug the transformer.
