Peter Obi dumps PDP, withdraws from Presidential Primary

A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi has announced Tuesday his withdrawal from the contest for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former Anambra State governor disclosed this in a letter dated May 24 and addressed to the National Chairman of the main opposition party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

He cited as the reason in his letter the “unfortunate recent development within the party which has made it practically impossible for him to continue”.

Besides pulling out of the contest for the party’s presidential ticket barely three days after the exercise, the presidential aspirant also announced his resignation from the PDP.
