Police Commissioner commends SA for donating building to Police

The Commissioner of Police, Cross River Command, Mr. Aminu Alhassan has commended the Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade on Cocoa Development and Control, Dr. Oscar Ofuka for donating a Police Station to the Police.

He said this on Friday in Etung Local Government Area of the State during formal take over of the building.

Alhassan said he was delighted at such a philanthropic and generous gesture of the donor.

“if every community has philanthropic and generous-minded people like you, the society would be a far better place to stay.

“Surely, because of this project, your name will remain indelible in the annals of the police records, ” he said.

The Commissioner promised to relay the good gesture to the Inspector-General of Police and the State Governor for their acknowledgment.

And speaking, Ofuka advised youths in the area to always guard against theft and vandalism of public facilities in the community.

He said this would engender even and sustainable development in the area and country.

He stressed the need for youths to be vigilant against criminal tendencies, adding that such vices are capable of plunging communities into retrogression.

The Special Adviser said the advice had become necessary following the missing of some items including six windows meant for the construction of Police quarters in Bendeghe-Ekeim community, Etung Local Government Area.

“Though the criminal act would not deter me from completing the quarters, I am warning these enemies of progress to desist forthwith, ” he said.

He said he was determined to contribute towards the peace and security of lives and properties of the Etung people and to complement the effort of the State Government in security projections.

The Police station was duly completed and equipped with furniture and requisite gadgets.

The Chairman, Bendeghe-Ekeim Town Council, Mr. Obi Ndoma, and the Chairman of the Youth Council, Mr. Mgbeh Takon both condemned the criminals for carting away the items and assured that perpetrators will be fished out and brought to book soonest.
