Police storm, seal off Cross River Watch office in Calabar
The Police from Alapere Police Station in Lagos State has sealed off the office of an online media outfit “Cross River Watch” in Calabar over the re-arrest and detention of its publisher Agba Jalingo who is reportedly accused of publishing a defamatory article.
An eyewitness said about six police officers arrived from Alapere police station to join the four who arrived earlier in a tinted Toyota Camry on Friday, August 19, 2022. The security team informed officials of the online platform in Calabar that the officers in mufti were sent from Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The arrest according to Cross River Watch comes three days before the third anniversary of his arrest on August 22, 2019. He was earlier detained in police and prison custody for 179 days in Calabar before being discharged and acquitted of all charges bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, and attempts to overthrow the government of Governor Ben Ayade in Cross River State.
