PTD-NUPENG, NNPC Calabar depot rendered thanksgiving to God

Thomas Mertron (1915-1968), an American Trappist Monk, writer, theologian and social critic has averred that “To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything”.

In the same vein, Cross River State indigenes in PTD-NUPENG aligning with Merton’s postulation, coupled with the recognition and acknowledgement of the goodness of God to them as members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) arm in the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and National Gas Workers (NUPENG), a trade union representing workers in the oil and gas extractive industry in Nigeria at the NNPC depot in Calabar held a thanksgiving service in Gospel House, Home of Gospel Deliverance Ministry International on Sunday February 11, 2024.

The group led by Comrade Evangelist Godswill Emmanuel Ayi, Chairman and Comrade Etitim Offiong represented by Comrade Ekanem Effiong, Vice Chairman-Amasco aka Etete Nupeng said that they came to return thanks and all glory to God for His benevolence.

In his sermon, the Lead Pastor of the Gospel House, Pastor James John who spoke on the topic “By Strength shall no man prevail,” referencing 1st Samuel 2:9 “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail” said that God would always break the yoke of oppression and restore back to God’s ordained destiny of a people who always return thanks to Him for fighting their lfe battles but the choice one makes in the face of adversity determines how you survive in the battles of life to become a victor.” He pronounced that Cross River State indigenes in PTD-NUPENG in NNPC depot, Calabar would become a voice to reckon with from now henceforth and appreciated them for their thanksgiving gifts.

Fielding questions from newsmen at the event, Comrade Evangelist Ayi, Chairman of the association disclosed that the Union choose Gospel House as venue for the thanksgiving due to pastor James John’s prayers and spiritual support to them when they were passing through the vicissitudes of life and other odds-defying experiences. He averred that through all these, God’s grace has been sufficient for them hence the reason for the program.

The event was witness by executives of the Union and a list of personalities within and outside Cross River State in the Oil and Gas subsector of the nations economy.
